Reviews for Senior Maintenance Engineer at Amazon.com
They want technicians but don't know how to train them
Fast paced, disorganized, fluid logic with constant changes. Some SOPs were never generated or created. Stock room was for a small portion of the building. No continual improvement program implemented. Amazon expansion was beyond taking care of equipment/people currently have. Maintenance management was low on the cost feasibility and didn't get enough budget to maintain a high output operational committed work place. Plenty of temporary fixes that became permanent to include violations of OSHA regulations. Work place has hiring anyone that can be hired to include those that don't understand English or safety compliance. HR said they have been trained, but missed some of the valuable translation. Security is a joke, but they are mostly 3rd world to work the 2nd shift with little to no understanding of protocols or procedures. Refugees could do no wrong. Catered to Muslim faith. Turn over rate is ridiculous. They hired 2nd and 3rd strike employees back due to lack of manpower. Safety is an afterthought for all employees. the cardboard has caught fire 4 times during my tenure there. Change is too constant due to management changeout/rotation. Oh, and floor supervisor's have no visibility on employees for significant periods of time. 1 fatality that the shift manager didn't know until found non responsive, 5 hours into the shift. 2 heart attacks that lucky didn't die onsite. Tornado warning, we all took shelter in a supposed "Tornado shelter", but no damage assessment was performed after or ever. No advancement for people that perform above peers, -
