Not for everyone, be prepared for long hours, no work/life balance at ALL
General Agent (Former Employee) - Edmonton, Ab - 13 March 2019
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedCompany overall is really good for recognition. However there are very very long hours involved especially if you are on the management track. Throughout the interview process and training process it is said that you work for yourself and that you are running your own business, but as soon as you get to the supervisor level, you will see that there are sales quotas put on you and your team weekly. There is a lot of pressure from executive level to get your recruiting done as well as your sales so be prepared to work 10 to 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. Making sales is one thing, but their head office approves them and there are a number of things that can hold up your income. Hardly anyone gets the actual policy you sell them. The head office always asks for changes. When clients call head office it is sometimes challenging to deal with staff who does not do things in a timely manner, or understand the sales process. Follow-up work on individual accounts can often outweigh the commission that you earn from them because there is lots of extra work involved in most cases. If you let this extra pile up or go incomplete they charge back loads of your commissions. Be prepared to not make any money for weeks or even months at a time... Or to get reduced commission payouts because they say your policies aren't high quality. The job is totally not family friendly, even though that's what managers constantly tell you. There is a constant push to recruit anyone with a pulse, which really is annoying after the first little while. They are all about volume hiring and then just seeing who -
Pros
Set your own schedule... Kind of
Cons
Don't work, don't get paid. Lots of variables out of your control, management integrity lacking

Exceedingly poor management
Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - 1515 Matheson Blvd. - 12 May 2021
The corporate culture is cult-like gathering of very narrow minded individuals with blind spot for the business model and the insurance industry. Anyone that questions that model is treated with subtle, but sure, hostility. The manner of treating the clients was very poor and at times heated, aggressive and pushy. The only positive is that the associates I was teamed with couldn't have been better or more god-sent. Very helpful, supportive and encouraging throughout. Names withheld, but their support is deeply appreciated. The company itself is a disaster of unchecked proportions.

Mlm scam
Remote Sales Rep (Former Employee) - Ontario - 22 January 2021
Do not bother with these guys. I got uneasy when I initially started because it all comes off very cult-ish. You need to pay a fee. Its a draining salesperson type job you get commissions but all in all it amounts to nothing. They throw out big numbers that you could be making but it is made up.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
MLM/Pyramid scheme

It's a sudo MLM
I left immediately (Former Employee) - Canada - 28 April 2020
Paid by commision, up front cost to join. No hourly rate, immediate movement to management. No matter that their advertisement says ignore it. It will be a sales job no matter what. If it's from AIL or one of their other names ignore it and move on. It's not worth your waste in time (or money).
Oh and every statistic they gave in their "sales pitch" of an interview has been doubled. There are on average 1370 children abducted per day not 2500. The average funeral cost in Canada is $8500 with a top end of $15000. Their stats are $15000 low end to $30000.
Pros
They make a great example of a modern day legal MLM scheme
Cons
Literally everything

Fun, training available, flexible.
Human Resources Assistant (Current Employee) - London, ON - 16 February 2019
Work life balance with this company is amazing, they are extremely flexible and encourage a wonderful culture in the workplace. I have learned about the importance of recruitment from this company as people are one of the biggest resources an organization can have. The hardest part of the job would be handling the repetitive things from day to day or the lack of responsibilities, i often find myself finishing my work and being left with less to keep me busy. The most enjoyable part of the job is the work life balance and my coworkers.
Pros
Flexibility
Cons
repetitive

Master General Agent (Current Employee) - London, ON - 17 May 2018
I came from hospitality not knowing much about the business world and how to truly treat others. This company has taught me how to be a better person in every aspect of life. Three and a half years into my career, I can say I am the most happy I have ever been. The platinum rule rules!
Pros
Family culture
Cons

not a position for those who are not determined and driven
