I real love there people were friendly the management was excellent everyone get long to one another make the job so easily .we build the entire gas propen facility in 2 and half year and now that plant is open
Excellent company to work for with strong safety culture. Great face to face value and excellent salary. Would recommend people to join on in to expand on your strengths and work in a strong team environment.
AltaGas, great work environment, tons of remote work in the Northern BC area, great leadership and the operational staff are extremely qualified. Great support from Projects Leads and Project Managers.
Can't complain about working here. Decent pay and good job security. A little safety obsessed but I never was injured on the job so that is a plus. If you can land a job here you will be set for life if you want, or use the experience to land something bigger and better in the years to come. Or leave and come back as many have done!
When I first started there it was a great palce to work, then in the last 2 years of working there there was a management change and they put profit before peopl, this was when they stopped listening to very skilled people and started to listen to vendors that on the surface offered a lower cost solution that was not better in anyway.
Leadership in IT is very bad only looking at the dollar and not the people

I would highly suggest working for this company. Aside from a higher pay there are really no problems with this company. It's a friendly environment that makes everyone feel at home. It also has alot of perks and there are union positions to give you the job security that you can't find in the private sector elsewhere. From day one this has been my end career and if you get hired on you'll see why.
The company itself is an average place to work the Calgary staff are decent to work for and with they are not as educated as they possibly should be but they treat their people decent.
The management at the sites are not professional, this component works on a who you know not what you know policy. There is easy to much favoritism and the professionalism is dealt far below industry standards. People are tested unfairly if they are of a minority group. There is bullying and racism allowed and even promoted throughout the staff that work at the facilities.
Lack of training and growth, they had the hiring in the ideology of who you know so you end up working with a lot of uneducated p which in turn makes it for a very unssfe place to work.
There have been a number of incidents that have happened that were never reported or dealt with proper due to the management protecting their who you know staff.
Don't recommend one apply or work for the outfit as they will not stay long
Turn over is crazy, pay poorly. No training provided. Managers are threatened on a daily basis and do not reflect the needs of the field. The board of directors is in the dark regarding the safety non-compliance issues, they have no clue.
Operator (Former Employee) - West Coast BC - 15 October 2019
As most others have stated, they promise everything and deliver nothing. Management is non existent and does not wanna help out at all. Pay is well below the area standards and it is a toxic work place. It's not what is promised.
I would not suggest that anyone work for this organization due to the managements lack of decision making.
-poor project management
-poor people selection
-poor contractor development
-hard to come to work in the morning
-most enjoyable part of the day is payday
AltaGas WAS an very well positioned integrated energy company prior to the WGL acquisition. The departure of the CEO and other key person coupled with the WGL acquisition has resulted in the divestiture of key green energy assets, a revenue stretch and a lack of vision
A typical day at work starts at 830am-530pm.
I learned various risk management procedures, risk documentation, and risk management theory.
Management was very friendly and understanding. They also gave adequate time to complete every task.
The most difficult aspect of the job was the time zone difference. I worked with people in Ontario while working at the Calgary office.
Contract work without the possibility of an extension
