Poor Management/Workplace Culture

Enhancements Crew Leader (Former Employee) - London, ON - 26 October 2022

I was hired on as a crew leader in the Enhancements & Extras division. There were only 2 workers in that division when I was hired at the start of season. They hired 1 other labourer the whole season. Projects were things like pot hole repairs and some minor planting and mulching. Was required to maintain two properties half way through the season. Was required to weed garden beds at business centres. Was required to do many things that were not ever discussed prior to employment or even during. No one there is treated as an individual. You are just a body there to work. Daily tasks were often not given directly to me, making it difficult to prepare for anything. No one that works there is happy, so workplace atmosphere is negative on a daily basis. Put my 2 weeks in with a letter explaining the reasons why, which are also stated here. They just accepted my resignation effective immediately as soon as I sent the letter. This is a company that does not care about you.

It’s an okay job. I believe they don’t pay enough. Having to pay for required uniforms isn’t good but it is what it is. Was told more hours than I receive but again, what can you do.

Tough but rewarding Employment

This job is tough, no doubt about it. But the training you receive will help you be successful. You really begin to have a bond with the other employees and they often have outings for the staff to show appreciation of the hard work from the team members. It is really rewarding seeing the work and effort you have done once completed the task. Overall I highly recommend ATPM.

I really enjoyed working here, hard work required, long hours average pay, learned about snow and working outdoors is fun, good management, great co-workers, some physically demanding work, and finishing the job at the end of the day.
