Good Place to Work

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I enjoy working at AGLC and the people I work with. The organization is undergoing some positive change and is paying particular attention to workplace culture and employee engagement.

Pros

Parking, Location, Work-life Balance

Cons

Compensation, Lack of flexible work options

Used to be amazing, not anymore!

The culture has changed significantly for the worse. I had a lot of respect and admiration for the previous CEO. This company isn't where you want to spend your time as the leadership is lost.

Pros

Work life balance

Cons

Culture and Leadership

Okay place to work

Okay place to work, there seems to be an imbalance with mangers to employees. It is extremely too heavy. Teams are told that input matters, but it really doesn’t.

It's a job

Not the worst place to work but by no means the best. Pay is on the low end of average, employee morale is low, and change is often made without consideration to employee opinion. Overall leadership at a lower level is great, senior managers and above seem to have no regard for employee welfare though.

Pros

Personal Spending Account, Health Spending Account, EPP Programs through Telus

Cons

Culture, Pay, Benefits/Pension, Upper leadership

Very Little Diversity in Upper Management

Upper Management is very traditional with token representation of Visible minorities and people of color. There is excessive politics in the Organization and career progression for most people are very slow. No raises for last 7 years including factoring in Inflation and nonexistent budget on training.

Worst place I’ve ever worked

If I could give it negative stars I would. This is an incredibly toxic workplace. There is no training or support and the level of micromanaging is suffocating. Stay away if you know what’s good for you.

Pros

Are there any?

Cons

Terrible management, no training, managers concerning themselves with other departments instead of their own

Good place if you stay under the radar

Good place, fairly simple work. But if you want to advance you must be a yes man and have seniority. Benefits are good and salary is better than most technician jobs once you go through your yearly raises. Takes about seven years from the bottom level.

Very good Employer awesome atmosphere, friendly and respectful co-workers. Excellent benefit plan and overall great place to work. The hardest part of the job customer complaints. the best part of the job was dealing with vlt Retailers and casino. Server Team - Just Say NO

Thought this would be the last job where it turned out to be the worst job. Those that work hard get more work, those that do nothing but suck up are praised and promoted. No chance for advancement. HR and Management need to start doing there work properly.

Pros

Free Outdoor Parking & Earned Days Off

Cons

Incompetency and kissing up is rewarded and promoted, NO respect from management for staff, Old boys /girls club, too many to mention

Excellent Job Security/Beneftis and close to home

I've worked at AGLC for almost 7 years and have advanced in my career from Administration to Revenue Analyst. I have taken courses through AGLC to further my education. I enjoy my co-workers, and everyone is always willing to help.

Pros

Job security/Personal days/Christmas closure/Compressed work week

I was at AGLC for only 2 years and I enjoyed my time there. I had gear fun working the Stamped Casino every year. People are great and the boss was a fantastic guy!

Pros

Good home work balance and flexible

Cons

Pay was ok but not substantial.

Fantastic place to work.

I enjoyed my time with the AGLC. They have a lot of resources in place for people to take advantage of for personal and career growth. The benefits and pension were great.

Pros

Great benefits and pension, union.

Cons

Large organization - sometimes communication between departments was an issue.

Casual

I could only work casually for the AGLC after completing my summer student program. I wish I could have stayed longer. The licensing teams are very unique from one another and they were always willing to assist me. This helped my professional growth so much and I wish I could go back.

Pros

Amazing staff, Great hours, Good learning experiences

Cons

Job availability

Great place for sheep

If you enjoy blindly follow the sheep, this is a place for you. Don't speak up, don't innovate, don't question authority and you'll have a secure job for life. This is a normal government facility with regular pros and cons.

Pros

Job security, free parking, good pay

Cons

Terribly slow internet with tons of restrictions
