Alberta Energy Regulator
Alberta Energy Regulator Employee Review
Great work life balance but no future and Compensation has not risen in 10 years.
Financial Analyst (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 12 January 2022
It is a great place to learn but if very early in your career in Finance there is not much place to grow here in Finance. The leadership has been in their positions for the last 10+ years so very resistant to change and they create a lot of work that doesn't add any value.
Pros
Good work-life balance
Cons
No growth and Financial compensation is not at market with other government agencies

Leadership is not really focused on strategy, they really like to focus on tactics. Very Stressful work environment. Lack of accountability at the top.
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
Constant change

An amazing place until the i-Core scandal
Senior Analyst (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 24 April 2022
AER was fantastic - great downtown location right on the +15, beautiful building, free coffee & hot drinks, zero-waste facility. I also really appreciated the attention to internal communications - that went a long way towards building a strong culture. Things went completely awry once the details of i-Core became public - not sure how it turned out as I left shortly after. If they were able to get things back on track, then I imagine it would become a great place to work again.
Pros
Free coffee/hot drinks, beautiful modern office space, right downtown in Eau Claire
Cons
Career advancement seemed a bit limited, but I guess that depends on your team.
