Former Service Centre Coordinator
Service centre coordinator (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB1 March 2017
Technicians were great for the most part, local management allowed training to be facilitated. Management outside of the facility was and still remains inept, and unskilled. No Canadian representation in leadership. No Canadian HR, the HR/HSE departments are the most anti Canadian groups I have ever witnessed. They go out of the way to not follow Canadian regulations as they feel they do not require to follow them.
The most enjoyable part of the job is not working there any longer. Worst 3.5 yrs ever
Pros
Local manager
Cons
Regional ops leader

What can I say
Electrician Journeyman (Former Employee) –  Leduc, AB22 February 2017
Some good people work there. But like any large company as soon as the bottom line drops it is the workers that suffer.
I do not like being asked to talk about a company I do not want to talk about.

High Stress
Operations Co-ordinator/Service Manager (Former Employee) –  Leduc, AB18 February 2017
Company is run under a very lean model making it a high overtime job with poor work life balance for technicians. It is HQ in the USA and no HR representation or senior leadership representation located in Canada. Salary is low balled due to the high overtime off set.

In 3.5 yrs, I had 2 weeks where I was not tied to my cell phone even when not on call and only because I was on an Island in the Caribbean.
Pros
Bonus structure if thresholds are met
Cons
long hours, poor senior leadership, no senior leadership representatives in Canada, No HR representation in Canada, No understanding of Canadian Apprenticeship model, no understanding of its requirements relating to salaries

Only one downside when tied to the oil and gas industry...
Technician II (Former Employee) –  Western Canada30 January 2017
Great company, unfortunately all eggs in one basket approach to oil and gas business results in a complete lack of job security...not that there is much when you are an "at will" employee just like with any other employer.
To be fair, when times were good, this company rocked! Very dedicated to training employees, and all the overtime hours you could handle. Definitely tried to be a "Safety 1st' culture company, but as with any other, the real rule sometimes came off as "safety when it is convenient".
Pros
Solid commitment to training, safety, lots of communication, expenses always paid within 2 week period, above average compensation.
Cons
You will become a "working monk" if you let them overtime you to death, no corporate expense card, so you better have a good credit card with at least a $2500 limit so you can prepay expenses, HR run from USA so expect confusion with Canadian rules, and be patient with on-boarding process as it takes awhile.

Heavy Equipment Technician (Former Employee) –  Fort McMurray, AB29 January 2017
Great fellow employees to work next to, the management has a lot to learn they don't take care of employees they look out for number one only. Wages have a lot to be desired they pay the lowest in the industry and the benefits are the same basic ones every other company gives out.

Good Company ...Very bad management 2016
Service Technician (Former Employee) –  Fort McMurray, AB7 September 2016
Worked in Oil Sands in Alberta as a Technician..
Aggreko Western Canada is truly struggling with Management issues... Promises made and not followed thru with ... Both Employees and Clients.. Customers are fed promises and then no action taken to follow thru with those promises and now they are losing Clients by the minute... Work environment used to be fun and now everyone in Alberta dreads going to work... Management has sucked the life and spirit from their staff ..

Aggreko Western Canada needs a management House Cleaning

Area General Manager, Eastern Canada (Former Employee) –  Toronto, Ontario6 July 2015
Organizational health is weak with pressure from economy and competitors. Enjoyed the people I worked with but there was little respect for the company executives managing North America from the field sales and service groups within the company.

Operations Coordinator for Husky Sunrise and Kearl (Current Employee) –  Husky Sunrise and Kearl30 July 2014
Their training doesn't exist. You are placed in the position and expected to teach yourself. It is a very "sink or swim" kind of attitude. The people are very friendly and safety conscience though. Very small representation in Canada so I learned a lot about other areas of the business because they didn't have staff for all those different roles. Hardest part is trying to learn their culture and business without the training or time to learn.
Pros
Company vehicle, Day work only
Cons
Camp jobs
