Toxic work environment

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Due to staggering amount of work, we can barely get a full break. Management is stringent and indolent. Employees are neglected. It is fun and amusing to work with the elderly and my co workers. Management is the only problem but no one is brave enough to speak up because there will be consequences.

Pros

Good hours

Cons

Management

Good team.

Learned a lot from this facility. They gave you more orientation hours if you asked for it. It is inclusive and team work is incredible. Iike working here.

Manipulative management with horrible HR

In house management, head office, and HR are horrible and manipulative; treats staff very poorly. No staff are willing to speak up because they know there WILL be repercussions. No respect for work/life balance. Do not work for this company, they will not care about you or respect you.

Pros

Small home, lovely residents

Cons

Manipulation, harassment, and bullying from management.

don’t bother

no management, no care for staff at all. resident to staffing ratio is off. new shifts suck, only 12hr lines and you are usually running 2 people on the floor for 4 families.

Pros

nothing.

Cons

everything.

Fun workplace to work with especially the staffs

Staff are enjoyable to work with but poor management. I used to look forward every time I come to work but not anymore. The Director of Care is not supportive to the staff, would rather be doing a lot of investigation to discipline staff.

Pros

Staff are nice

Cons

Poor management

Ok place

Not a bad place to work, buthard to get any vacation time, management seems to ignore most concerns, staff with lots of seniority get away with doing whatever they want

Fulfilling place to work in, dependant on the management team

Working for Agecare Royal City Manor was fulfilling, but that is entirely dependant on the team you work with. Some parts of management could use some work, but the care staff and nursing are always supportive while maintaing strong boundaries. So wonderful to spend time getting to know the many residents that came to stay.

Pros

Employee appreciation, personable staff and residents

Cons

Formation of cliques, bullying among staff and management.

Horrible

Management doesn't care, nor do they listen, they lie and just don't care about the residents or the staff. Truly heartbreaking to see how terrible that place is. And check your paycheck closely, they are always wrong. Worst facility ever.

Management is horrible

Agecare just took over our care home approximately a year ago. We have seen poor management who don’t care about their employees and have slowly made it worse and worse to work here. Upper management is only concerned about making money and saving money without thoughts of the residents. If I weren’t a long time employee of this home I would definitely be looking for another job!

Pros

Long time employees are like family

Cons

Poor management

poor management, very stressful

the management is very unorganized. they over work you. makes us do 4 hours worth of work and pays us 3hrs with minimum wage. :|During the summer was really bad, I don't even think they had ACs. Using the steamtables was death and if you were assigned to work as the dishwasher during the summer, you are bound to faint. ( I heard many rumors about people fainting doing dishes because it was so hot)

Pros

nice coworkers

Cons

poor and very unorganized management

Poor Management and Support

-Mentally and physically tiered.-Learned how to be dishonest and how to mistrust people. -Mission, Vision and guidelines are only for direct care staff and not applicable to management, including HR.-A better example of Toxic work culture. This place include all the elements of toxic work culture.-Nurse resident ratio 1:32 to 34.-Yearly Christmas Party!!!

Pros

Can buy food

Cons

Stressful work

Terrible place to work

Upper management micromanages everything you do and treats you badly. Either you are the favorite or the worst no in between have seen both sides. No room for advancement. Systems are super old and not updated. Always short staffed and never a full team so you have to take on all roles and if you can't then they get mad at you.

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours, bad culture, negative

Great people

Loved all the people I worked with. Management is disconnected. No support during covid was my reason for leaving. I loved working there and in general is one of the better lodges I've worked for.
