Terrible place to work

I worked in Penticton. Management is just horrible. Staff all hate there job so terrible working environment. Management just flat out lie to staff. Under paid for the work load. Do not bother to work for them you will most likely be looking for another job within 6 months.

Harassment and bulling

Worked for this place for awhile and never again. Pay was way lower then it should be for the amount of work you do. They work you to the bone and then expect you to do everyone else's job if they cant do it. Always working short because people are so burnt out and don't want to work anymore. Told you cant go causal because there are to many of them, Gee I wounder why. No one wants to be running off their feet for a whole 19hr capped. Will never make more then that. So much harassment and bulling its like being in high school all over again, and that's from all areas of staff. Kitchen, care aids, even the nurses. Only nice people there are the housekeepers. Work there for 8 months only to be yelled at and told your doing the job the wrong way by another care aid. Threatened and intimidated while in shift in front of residents. Dont not work for them, not even if its the last job out there.

Andover Terrace Retirement Resort

My time with Andover Terrace Retirement Resort was truly a pleasure. I had a chance to meet some of the most wonderful families and their loved ones. The building owners were great to work with. I left there having made some of the best memories ever.

Pros

The gift of working with senior residents

Cons

crazy workplace

this workplace (mountain lakes) is ridiculous. way too much workload for 2 people per area. residents aren't properly medicated which makes for a hazardous work area.

Pros

decent salary. always being called in.

Cons

dispatchers are really mean if you cant go in when they call.

Beware

Pay is low, expectations high. Basically what you would expect from a contracted healthcare service provider. Applied for a job in a desired location and offered one across the province in a very undesireable one. HR would take no for an answer and offered lame ‘incentives’. The gap between highest and lowest pay rates was only $0.60 hr. Unless your desperate give this company a pass.

Pros

None Really

Cons

Poor pay, locations

Clients are friendly and nice to talk to

Learned how to prep morning breakfast, food juices for clients. Did staff laundry then clients laundry. Then carried out to do the housekeeping of the common areas of the building. Most enjoyable part was working by self. Most hardest and un-enjoyable is when running behind with client laundry there is no way of catching up. Management was very poor never seem to be around.

Pros

Union after 3 months or 300 hours

Cons

Lack of communication between day and evening staff

The management supports the employees in their work.

Advo care has a homely environment for the care staff. When I worked for Advo care I felt part of a family that appreciated and cared for.

Pros

Company events

Cons

Awards for staff
