If you have a life, you won't have one once you are working here
Consultant (Former Employee) – McLean, VA – 19 April 2019
When I first started here, I thought it was a trade up from my old job. It wasn't. It is consulting which means your life is owned. You get in at 7:00am, spend multiple hours in meetings that don't count against your 8 hours (unless they are project specific). You pack up at 5:00pm to go home for a restful evening. Oh wait, nope, you need to log in again by 7pm to continue work. My last project had people working at 2am, and no, this wasn't to accommodate a client in a different time zone. There was just so much work to do nobody had time for anything but work. I understand that sometimes you need to go above and beyond, but insane hours was the norm for most projects.
Benefits are great. Pay is sub par. Social events are essentially mandatory (you won't be getting promotions without attending). Pro-bono projects are the same - not mandatory but don't plan on getting a raise or promotion with it. Oh, and pro bono projects are completed on your own time, not the company's, but they will quickly snatch up the credit for your hard work.
I thought this company was awesome when I started. It ended up being a sweat shop that fires people when they can't keep up or want a life outside of work.
Great benefits, friendly atmosphere, helpful coworkers
No work life balance.
