Good entry level experience, horrible management, no advancement potential
Data Analyst (Former Employee) –  Ancaster, ON17 October 2019
The first year is really good experience, but they do not promote from within and pay very poorly. The work given was interesting and challenging but the work environment was stressful and the culture promoted getting things done quickly over doing them properly.

The company is managed by people who lack professional and personal integrity, and they will expect you to abandon yours. Some really great people work here, but their good ideas are ignored by upper management.

It's a job, An entry level job.
Laboratory Technician (Current Employee) –  Ancaster, ON6 January 2019
Quite a bottom of the bin type job. Minimum pay, though you do get benefits, however, not much time to use them in the contract period. Management is friendly, understanding in agriculture division, but... other parts of the lab are not so lucky. Your jobs are easy mindless tasks if you know how to work. Takes initiative and integrity to know how to work here, as no one will "have your back" without something in it for them.
Pros
Friendly, Relaxed, environment
Cons
Good worker = more than average responsibilities for the bad pay.

Decent labor job
(Kamloops) - Sample Prep Technician (Former Employee) –  Kamloops, BC26 December 2018
Worked there fore my 6 month contract. It's good day-to-day labor, not much room for moving up, nor are there really any raises given out. But the people you work with are awesome and the environment is friendly. Lots of staff activities and a good environment all around.

Interesting job but that's about it
Lead Hand (Former Employee) –  Timmins, ON28 November 2018
A lot of work demand and not enough hands to do it, dealing with constant breakdowns and budget fixes. Very dangerous work conditions and can mess you up if you're not 100% focused and aware. Not worth the amount of $$ they pay, didn't receive any wage increase after two years of working hard and doing it to the letter.
Pros
Regular heat breaks, regular blood toxicity tests (for lead)
Cons
High pressure deadlines, mandatory 1 year service contract (subject to training fee if you quit)

Bad bad bad
Data Analyst/lab tech (Former Employee) –  Ancaster, ON1 September 2018
Everything about this company is bad. No job security, poor management, terrible work environment. Try to not take this route, the management is terrible and manipulative. your self confidence will be ruined. There are much better opportunities out there and better pay

Opposite of fun
Technician (Former Employee) –  Ancaster, ON20 May 2016
Good for learning and building experience. Not good for staying long term as there aren't any bonuses or raises. Co-workers are new every few months due to turnover. It's a typical desk job that will pay the bills, if you're single then it most likely won't.
Pros
Free parking
Cons
Low salary, no raises, poor management

Productive and have paid lunch break
Laboratory Technician (Former Employee) –  Ancaster, ON27 July 2014
My work is in the afternoon shift. I have learned to weigh different samples. The management is quite good and my co-workers are nice. The hardest part of my job is looking for samples in the shelves that was not returned properly by previous user. The most enjoyable is talking with friends during lunchtime.
Pros
medical incentives
Cons
can not talk in the workplace

No work
Lab Technician (Former Employee) –  Kamloops, BC6 May 2014
Never seems to have any work lined up, so people work less than a part time job even after signing a contract for full year. Management kind of forces you to quit instead of laying you off even though there is no work. The contract protects them but does nothing for the people they employ.

This company sucks, at everything.
Wet Lab Technician (Former Employee) –  Sudbury27 February 2014
Typical day at work:

Nothing to do, lab manager is grossly incompetent at this job duties, pretty much always on youtube using his company-paid cell phone, chit-chatting all day long, everybody is looking for a way out except the lab manager, hard to maintain work ethic if stays too long. That's why I quit.
Pros
none
Cons
work ethic = none, morale = none, wages = sucky, you name it..

Team Work and Safety in the workplace with a positive atmosphere.
Technician (Current Employee) –  HAmilton, ON5 July 2012
I am most productive to work in an environment where the management and other member of the team are supportive of each other. I have learned that team work is very important in whatever kind of work in accomplishing certain goal no matter how hard the goal is. It is most difficult if the management is unconcerned for the welfare of its employee and team members are not united in achieving common goals. I enjoy most in my work if I am appreciated and recognized with the work I have accomplished and if people/colleagues/clients are satisfied with what I done for them.
Pros
comprehensive benefit package that includes family members
Cons
irregular hours not specified in the contract
