Great place to work, great social environment, amazing team events, good incentives/prizes
Sales Representative (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 5 December 2016
I have been a sales agent for about 2 years. It really is a great place to work, the incentives are good, and they offer great big prizes as incentives every now and then. There are always quarterly outings with the office as well as bigger events like the holiday party and an annual revenue party. Management is very fair, if you show up, perform well and are open to coaching and development you can have a very successful career with lots of opportunity for growth as they will always promote from within.
Opportunity for advancement, management, team building, personal/professional development
Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on your experience! We do highly encourage personal and professional development and hope our team members can grow with us. We hope you continue to grow your career with us!
Job Work/Life Balance
Great entry into sales, or to climb the ladder
Sales Representative (Former Employee) – Vancouver, BC – 2 December 2016
Overall a great place to work and from all accounts far better than a normal call centre job.
Pay seems about average ($13/hr for 3 month probation, $16.50 after that with annual increases or premiums for speciality skills), benefits are pretty good (dental, prescription, travel insurance, massage, physio, optical, etc).
Very mixed working environment with people from all walks of life, old and young, from around Canada and overseas.
Hardest part of the job is that it's shift work but so are nearly all call centre jobs.
Most enjoyable part of the job is the people and the parties. When xmas rolls around the party season starts (holiday party, revenue party, global conference and more).
Benefits, "first round Friday", people are great, management focuses heavily on employee engagement, plenty of opportunity to climb the ranks to different parts of the company, full time, personal development courses are offered
Sales Representative (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 29 November 2016
I have worked for 1-800-GOT-JUNK? for over 2 years. Its a great place to work. Lots of team building activities, quarterly outings, great party's, a very fun culture. Lots of opportunity for advancement, they promote from within. They believe in investing and developing the people they have. I would highly recommend this as a great place to work.
Fast-paced, job that will whip you into shape and teach you essential skills for dealing with people
Driver/Navigator, Sales Rep (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 24 November 2012
You will quickly be surprised when you realize just how in-depth full-service junk removal can be. What most people don't realize about this job is its not simply slinging people's junk into a truck. A Driver/Navigator will learn sales, customer service, and marketing in a fun but competitive, fast-paced environment. You'll learn time-management skills, and be responsible to manage appointments while keeping customers happy. It offers exercise, sunshine, and free junk (you would be surprised to see some of the things people throw out). I will warn you, that if you have a sensitive sense of smell or can't lift a fridge out of a basement this job may not be for you.
You'll meet many interesting people; contractors, retail managers, hoarders, celebrities, seniors down-sizing, real-estate agents, just to mention a few of the types of people you'll come across. You will be helping overwhelmed people get rid of the things bogging them down, and while it can be challenging it is also very rewarding.
You'll always have a chance to improve yourself through metrics- and incentive-driven days, and there are enough in-office competitions to keep you on your toes. Your managers will drive you, often with a tough-love approach; their corporate team motto: "to empower each employee to reach their full potential" is very true, and they are every bit as fair and fun as your fellow truck-team members.
The culture is great and there wasn't a single guy that I didn't like working with (which is important when you're spending ten to twelve hours with the person). There are many fun events youmore... can participate in, including the Junk-Indy, paintball, a basketball team, and 5k races to name a few. 1-800-Got-Junk? is very committed to giving back to the community by donating and recycling a large percentage of all junk hauled. Their annual yard sale for the cure raised $30,000 this year for breast cancer and continues to increase every year.
All in all it was a great experience, and I learned many skills that will be transferable to any future career.less
