How to Write an Effective Quality Assurance Resume

Many quality assurance (QA) professionals are responsible for closely evaluating products to ensure they're ready for customers to use. If you're writing a resume for a quality assurance professional, a clean and well-written one can capture the hiring manager's attention and help you stand out from other candidates. Quality assurance is the act of making sure a company's products and services properly reach their established requirements, standards, and guidelines. In addition, there are many quality assurance employees who may work in fields like technology, manufacturing or engineering to test products and take note of any updates or enhancements needed before it's released to customers.

How to create a quality assurance resume

Follow these steps to writing your quality assurance resume:

1. Select a layout

The style and order that you choose to feature your qualifications and credentials influence the resume you present. You can select from a wide variety of layouts, such as functional, combination, or chronological. If you have several years of experience, consider using a chronological format that highlights your background and job duties. A functional format is well-suited for those with little to no experience because it focuses more on your skills and features them at the top of the document. Finally, you can use a combination resume to have a strong mixture of experience and skills that you'd like to showcase.

2. List your contact information

In the top left-hand corner of your resume, include your contact information, such as your name, email address, phone number, and location. Contact information can make it easier for employers to reach you regarding the next steps of the hiring process. Consider bolding your name and featuring it in a larger font size than the rest of your contact information to help it stand out to hiring managers.

3. Write a summary or objective statement

If you have professional experience in quality assurance, you can include a summary that briefly explains your background in this field in one to three sentences. For example, you can mention your qualifications, years of experience, or skills you used in the role. 4. Detail your quality assurance experience

Write the job title you held, the company you worked at, the dates of your employment, and a list of job duties using bullet points.
