Full job description

Vancouver Island archaeological firm is looking for a qualified project manager/senior archaeologist to start immediately.

Join a team committed to high-quality archaeological research and fostering an inclusive understanding of the past. This role suits those passionate about archaeology, interested to live and work around Central Vancouver Island.

Candidates must be current, verified permit holders in good standing for the Northwest Coast and have strong project management skills. At least five years of professional archaeological experience in coastal BC is preferred.

· Experienced Northwest Coast archaeologist with a record of managing cultural resource projects

· Broad knowledge of archaeological methods and perspectives

· Proficient in identifying and analyzing material culture

· Contribute to advancing archaeological knowledge

· Engaging proposal and report writing

· Collaborate with proponents, Indigenous communities on project scopes and methodologies

· Efficiently manage schedules and meet deadlines

· Strong verbal and written communicator

· Produce timely, compliant reports

· Lead and work well within teams to achieve goals

Required Qualifications:

· Minimum BA or MA (preferred) in anthropology or archaeology

· Professional accreditation with RPA or BCAPA

Duties:

· Manage archaeological projects

· Apply for and obtain permits

· Write proposals, reports, and other materials

· Oversee survey, impact assessments, excavation, site visits, analysis and report production

Compensation:

$38-48 per hour, commensurate with experience.
