We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and process-minded Corporate Controller to join our team. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this key role involves directing the work of our accounting and finance staff to support the company’s day-to-day operations.
The Corporate Controller will leverage strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with adept people and process management abilities. With a blend of tact, persistence, and drive, the successful candidate will refine, enhance, and ensure the timely delivery of transactional processes. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate, timely, and detailed financial reporting for our rapidly growing company, aligning with the initiatives set by the Head of Finance.
This position is ideally in-office at our Victoria, BC location or remotely within British Columbia with regular and frequent in-office visits, and occasional business-related travel within the group.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate accounting activities across multiple locations.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, set objectives and monitor results.
- Oversee corporate reporting with a focus on enhancing internal reporting.
- Continuously improve accounting processes and procedures.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls throughout the organization.
- Integrate multinational and functional corporate budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Support sound management practices and governance.
- Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships.
- Direct preparation of quarterly and annual reports in accordance with international financial reporting standards.
- Collaborate with external auditors for annual audit requirements.
Requirements:
Education and Professional Designation:
- University degree ideally in business, accounting, or a related field.
- Professional designation required (CA/ CPA/ CGA).
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience with a variety of relevant experiences.
- Experience in mentoring and coaching a team with diverse levels of expertise.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (strongly preferred) or similar sophisticated ERP system.
- Experience in financial systems implementation is a plus.
- Background in a multi-national environment is preferred.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.
