We are now accepting applications for FireRangers for the 2025 fire season in Ontario. Join the forest firefighting crews working to protect the forests, people and communities.

As a FireRanger, you will be responsible for protecting natural and cultural resources, as well as providing for public safety, through the detection, reporting, and suppression of wildland fires. Job Term: 1 Temporary recruitment initiative to hire several fixed-term contracts and seasonally recurring positions. Seasonal, duration up to 5.5 months, Any City, anywhere in Ontario
Salary: $25.38 - $32.43 Per Hour* depending on position level. There are multiple positions available.
What can I expect to do in this role?
Ontario FireRangers carry out all aspects of forest firefighting and participate in:
- Initial attack: the action taken to halt the spreading or potential spread of a fire by the first firefighting force to arrive at the fire
- Sustained attack: the continued action of suppressing a fire beyond the initial attack, until so far as it is under control
- Mop-up: the act of extinguishing a fire after it has been deemed under control
- Fire prevention
- Equipment maintenance
- Training
- Resource management projects such as clearing brush or trees that could be a fire hazard
Who is Eligible?
- 18 years of age or older
- Able to speak English
- Are legally entitled to work in Canada and are also required to have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- Possess a valid Drivers Licence (minimum G2)
You also need to successfully complete the following training:
- Canadian Physical Performance Exchange Standard for Type I Wildland Firefighters < https://www.ontario.ca/page/fireranger-wfx-fit-testing >
- SP100 Wildland Firefighter Training Course < https://www.ontario.ca/page/sp100-forest-firefighter-training
- Standard first aid (St. John's, Red Cross or equivalent) < https://www.wsib.ca/en/providers-approved-deliver-emergency-and-standard-first-aid >
