Full job description

The Marketing & Special Event Assistant plays a key role in maintaining a positive market presence for Ministers Island and its programs.

In general, this role is responsible for:

  • Being a representative of one of New Brunswick’s recognized premium tourism sites and maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Contributing to the planning, design and execution of marketing, communication, and promotional activity for Ministers Island.
  • Assist with the management of events including concerts, unique food service experiences, recreation events, etc.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Knowledge in organizing, planning, designing, and staging of public events and promotions.
  • Knowledge of appropriate public relations, communication and marketing techniques and practices.
  • Experience with the development and posting of compelling and appropriate social media content.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with visitors, staff, volunteers, and service contacts.
  • Written and oral communication in both English and French is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite and various presentation, graphics, and web software applications. Experience with video editing, podcast editing or experience with graphic design applications is an asset.
  • The ability to meet the physical demands of the job including lifting, carrying, holding, bending, stooping, as well as loading and unloading materials and equipment.
  • The ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal, visitor and fellow staff safety is always maintained.
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • This position will be expected to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required to attend/work events and programs. The work schedule may also vary according to tidal access times.
  • Due to the current pandemic, the successful applicant must be able to wear personal protective equipment, such as face masks and shields, while working in public spaces on the Island and in corporate spaces. Portions of the work may be eligible for remote work with some limitations.
