We are a growing early childhood Orgnization in Early Childhood Education in , NW Calgary, seeking a strong, passionate, and experienced Program Director to join our leadership team. This is an exciting management opportunity within a growing early childhood organization, with strong potential for professional growth and advancement for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, a passion for early learning, and experience in emergent curriculum, pedagogical practices, and Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Care Supervisor Certificate (Level 3 Certification – Required)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant practical experience in early childhood education and leadership
  • Early Childhood Administration and/or Supervisor training is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience with accreditation processes
  • Strong knowledge of child development, agency policies, and human resource procedures
  • Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Class 4 Driver’s Licence required

Key Responsibilities: Program Leadership & Operations

  • Ensure 100% compliance with all Alberta legislative and licensing requirements
  • Maintain the smooth daily operation of the childcare program
  • Lead staff through positive mentorship, coaching, and professional development
  • Oversee program development, classroom leadership, health and safety practices, and licensing compliance
  • Facilitate children’s programs, daily routines, and learning experiences
  • Develop and implement an emergent curriculum through ongoing participation and evaluation
  • Plan and support the gradual orientation of newly enrolled children

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and support educators and staff
  • Communicate daily with staff regarding children’s needs, programming, and operational updates
  • Implement procedures to address workplace concerns and problem-solving
  • Maintain personnel files and ensure policy and procedure compliance
  • Inform staff of enrollment changes and parental concerns as they arise
  • Promote teamwork, positive employee relations, and professional accountability

Family & Community Engagement

  • Maintain enrollment expectations through strong family communication, agency promotion, and hosting open houses
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding children’s progress and development
  • Arrange parent-teacher interviews and committee meetings as needed
  • Refer families to professionals or external supports when appropriate
  • Foster strong community partnerships and positive public relations
  • Attend organization open houses and events as required

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Ensure indoor and outdoor environments remain safe, clean, and hazard-free
  • Monitor equipment and maintain non-hazardous conditions
  • Conduct monthly emergency and fire practice procedures
  • Maintain first aid supplies and emergency contact information
  • Record accidents and injuries and report accordingly
  • Monitor allergies and medical conditions requiring special care
  • Ensure dangerous or hazardous materials are stored safely
  • Release children only to authorized individuals

Guidance & Behaviour Management

  • Use positive guidance techniques, including:
  • Positive reinforcement
  • Redirection
  • Positive language strategies
  • Follow organizational behaviour management policies and procedures
  • Support children’s physical, emotional, nutritional, and social well-being
  • Assist with evaluations and programming for children with additional needs
