altisHR is looking to hire a French Editor for a 8 month contract (July 2012 - March 2013) for our Federal Government client in Kitchener, Ontario. This is a on on-site French Editing position to work on-site in the Kitchener office. This contract will be a 30 hours per week, working days of Tuesday to Friday for 7.5 hours per day.
The successful candidate must have 3-5 years of French Editing and Proofreading experience within the last 5 years, must have 3-5 years of demonstrated knowledge and experience text editing using CP Style Guide within the last 5 years. Would be considered an asset to have previous French editing experience within the provincial or federal government.
Role and Responsibilities
Perform proofreading and edits of French text.
Execute quality reviews of French text for content accuracy, clarity, proper grammar, tone and style, and readability.
Edit French text using government and agency policies, procedures, and guidelines (e.g. CP style guide).
Conduct French terminological research and prepare French terms reference database, as needed. Qualifications and Experience
Speak, read and write French at an advanced level
Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, language usage, and style in French.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines without a loss of efficiency or effectiveness.
Knowledge of on-screen and textual editing of documents.
Must have Undergraduate degree and or a college diploma (3 years) and minimum of (3) years of related experience.
Work to be completed during the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, Tuesday to Friday.
Contractor to be available 7.5 hours per day, 30 hours per week. This amount can fluctuate depending on operational requirements. Enhance reliability clearance required - altisHR able to process on candidates behalf. Pay Rate for this position is $27.00 - 30.00 per hour
