Role Summary:
Applications Operations and Services is looking for a Senior Systems Analyst with at least 8 years of java web application development and support experience. The successful incumbent will have strong technical skills with the ability to work independently. As a member of the team that supports Filenet imaging and workflow applications, responsibilities include application support, stability and performance management, as well as creation of technical specifications, analysis, development and maintenance. The desirable candidate will utilize his/her knowledge of business objectives, process, products, people, and technology, to deliver quality, cost-effective and timely solutions to business partners.
Main Accountabilities:
Technical design, support, tuning, performance design, and maintenance of vendor based and in house built distributed applications using Java and Weblogic
Identify and assist in the re-engineering , improvement or replacement of business processes and associated technologies
Lead in design, coding, debugging, upgrading, implementation and support of these applications
Gather, analyze, document, and manage business requirements in the process of initiating solutions or responding to requests for assistance from business partners
Work with vendors to provide solutions, solve problems, maintain stability of the environment.
Ensure that solutions meet both business and technical requirements
Partner with business and infrastructure/technology areas to fully understand their needs, consult and work with them to deliver high quality solutions and services in a timely and efficient manner
Hands-on development and design.
Manage or coordinate small to medium projects from initiation through planning, requirements, construction to implementation and post-implementation reviews
Mentor junior team members
This role includes occasional on-call and after hours support
Competencies:
Must have strong technical and analytical skills, with at least 8 years experience in web application development using java technologies - java, jdbc, j2ee frameworks, ejb, jni, WebLogic, Eclipse IDE, Oracle Database and UNIX environments
Excellent understanding of java packaging, deployment, distributed application problem solving, and application performance management
Solid understanding of web based applications and client server technologies, with strong analytical skills
Strong understanding of best practices in java design and development
Customer and results focused
Ability to work with business partners as well as infrastructure teams to understand and act based on their needs
Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment in a multi site organization
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) - ability to express ideas, thoughts and information so that it can be understood by both technical and non-technical audiences and meets the customers' needs
Self-motivated and service-oriented, a self-starter
Good organizational and time management skills
Positive attitude, good energy, and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
Experience with Filenet products a strong asset
Knowledge of Siteminder, Apache, .Net are assets
University education or equivalent.
