We are recruiting for a fullitme Cognos Server Administrator to work in our Halifax office. The ideal candidate will be able to/have:
install and configure Cognos 8 or higher in a UNIX, Lynx, or Windows environment.
Configure external authentication providers. (LDAP or Active Directory)
Install patches and monitor system performance.
Conduct software upgrades of Cognos 8 software.
Apply Optimization techniques to improve performance.
Initial work will be to provide Cognos server administration and production support.

Required Work Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years experience in Cognos 8 or higher is required
Expertise in development and administration of the Cognos 8 BI architecture.
Strong Cognos 8 performance analysis and tuning skills and knowledge of associated best practices.
Experience planning and executing an upgrade of Cognos environments.
Skilled in Windows operations systems and UNIX or Lynx platforms.
Fast learner, able to diagnose technical challenges through reading code and supporting technical documentation
Team player with the ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written) at all levels of the SDLC
Required Level of Education:
Technical Diploma in IT with Equivalent Experience
Cognos Certification (Optional)
Soft Skills:
Very well organized
Very detail orientated
Able to multitask effectively
Have excellent time management, task planning and prioritization skills
Able to adapt quickly to changing client requirements
Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to build strong relationships with clients
Must Have Technical Skills:
Experience with Cognos tools and Cognos product tuning.
Experience with MSIIS web server.
Exposure to web infrastructure technologies (Portals, firewalls, DMZs, networking).
Experience in external authentication sources.
Use of Tomcat applications servers.
Nice to Have Technical Skills:
Experience in Cognos SDK development.
Experience in the Health Care industry.
Other Requirements ): Required to work occasional overtime. Some travel may be required.
