Role Summary:
The corporate Project Management Office is responsible for managing strategic corporate projects as well as promoting the project management discipline within our organization.
Project Managers successfully deliver major projects for the organization following the Project Management Institute’s approach, develop the project management skills of others in the company and increase the maturity of the project management discipline corporately.
As a Project Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
Managing business and technology programs and projects to successful conclusion;
Promoting the benefits of project management at all opportunities, typically via informal discussions with team members;
Performing quality reviews of deliverables created by other project managers, as requested; and
Recommending ways to improve the processes and tools used for program and project management.
As the ideal candidate, you possess the following qualifications:
Education: College diploma, university degree or equivalent program
Work Experience: A minimum of five years experience managing projects from initiation through closing
Other Qualifications: Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required within one year of assignment to this position
Familiarity with IBM’s Rational Unified Process (RUP) would be an asset
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of tools used in Project Management (such as Microsoft Project, Office, Visio) and working knowledge of CA Clarity would be an asset
Language Skills: Written, spoken and reading English a minimum; spoken and reading French an advantage
You also demonstrate the following core competencies: Analytical Thinking: Coordinates information from multiple projects to form a comprehensive perspective.
Communication Skills: Clearly assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions, sets clear objectives and measures and monitors process and progress.
Customer Orientation: Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
Execution and Organizational Skills: Accurately scopes out length and difficulty of tasks and projects and sets clear objectives and goals.
