This is an acting position anticipated to end on August 31, 2011, with the possibility of an extension. Reporting to the Business Analyst - Facility Systems, under the direction of the Systems Analyst, the Senior Programmer Analyst will:

be responsible for the overall support, enhancement and implementation of the Board's suite of school, business and facility applications, interfaces and data
be responsible for the enhancement of these systems to meet user requirements
ensure the optimum and cost-effective utilization of technology within the Client/Server and Web environments
act as an advisor and consultant to various clients and other teams by providing expert advice related to the internal workings of systems
review software packages for compatibility/suitability within the Board's application and technical environment
act as lead analyst to a number of projects, which will include developing the specifications, systems design and database design for the software being enhanced or developed
lead the development of new business solutions in response to new needs of the various Corporate users within the Board.

To take on the role of Senior Programmer Analyst, you must have:

a 3-year college diploma in Computer Science or a related field with 3 years of progressive working experience within an Information Technology environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
experience in developing complex web applications, using the ASP NET framework, XML, JavaScript, C#, SQL (Structured Query Language)
experience developing client-server applications using MS Access database and VBA
knowledge of .NET best practices and design patterns
understanding of technical and data architecture of SAP or experience in SAP configuration or ABAP programming would be considered an asset
knowledge of Relational Database Management systems such as Oracle 10g
knowledge of project methodology and systems development life cycle
experience in providing direction to staff and teams
customer service focus with successful experience in providing service to clients
good oral, written and organizational skills
solid interpersonal skills to maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members
demonstrated ability to make effective presentations
strong analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
proven ability to work under pressure and consistently meeting deadlines
project management and time management skills.

This unionized position, with CUPE Local 4400, Unit C, located at 140 Borough Drive (wheelchair accessible), involves some travel across Board sites, requires working beyond normal working hours due to schedule activities or emergency situations, and offers an hourly wage range of $34.81 - $41.43.
