Softitler Canada/Deluxe Media Services, a leading provider of quality subtitling, closed captioning and translation services for major motion pictures studios, film festivals, broadcast and cable networks, is seeking:

English Language Editors for scripts (freelancers)

Main Duties:

• Proofreading English audio and grammatical accuracy of shooting scripts for major Hollywood studios
• Formatting and editing English scripts intended for a variety of purposes
• Footnoting cultural references and expressions as an aid to translation
• Manipulating English files using proprietary software to produce deliverable documents
• Staying abreast of changing studio requests and ensuring the timely delivery of projects

Education, Experience and Competencies:

• Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Translation (or equivalent)
• Professional experience in an editorial environment
• Proven English proofreading and writing skills (translation experience a plus)
• English mother tongue, fluency in French and other languages an asset
• Exceptional audio sensitivity
• Proven research skills and fact-checking using Internet-based search engines
• Team player, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and work under deadline
• Broad cultural knowledge and wide range of interest
• Background in audiovisual and film production an asset
• Mastery of Microsoft Windows systems and Microsoft Office Suite
