We are a successful and well-regarded private contractor of care for Residential facilities.
We are currently looking for Resident Care Aides to work in a Residential Care Facility.
Specific details such as hourly wage and a complete job description will be provided to those candidates successful in securing an interview with us.
Under the direction of the Care Manager or designate (Team Leader; Nurse on duty), the Resident Care Aide assists residents with all activities of daily living, including the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs/interests of residents, in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the Facility.
Grade 12 education
graduation from a recognized Resident Care Aide program/nursing program which includes a Dementia Care component in their program or has completed a recognized Dementia Care program
Food Safe level 1
Registration in the BC Care Aide Registry
minimum of one year related experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
Ability to deal with others effectively; co-workers and especially residents with Dementia.
Ability to maintain and control personal emotions during all situations.
Physical and cognitive abilities to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment
*Applicants must be able and willing to work a variety of shifts (Days, evenings, nights) and short notice on occasion when needed*
Some of the key responsibilities are:
1. Directs and assists residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, washing, bowel and bladder care, bed making, dressing, nails, oral, skin and hair hygiene. Completes all documentation for the aforementioned activities of daily living.
2. Ensures residents receive adequate nutrition according to individual care plans by feeding, distributing meal trays/lists and nourishments, serving and collection of dishes, noting changes in appetites and food preferences.
3. Lifts, transfers, porters and ambulates residents using the proper equipment/technique as identified in the resident's care plan and the policies and procedures. Reports need for changes to resident's care plan, as necessary.
4. Performs and records routine nursing procedures as directed by the on duty nurse such as providing suppositories, enemas, , and ostomy/catheter care, applying basic dressings and topical medication including ointments and lotions, under the supervision of the on duty nurse, and obtaining routine laboratory specimens such as urine or stool.
