Our Cause:
Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world. 20% of the population lives on $1 or less per day, and one out of five children are currently not in school. While universal access to education and the opportunities this provides is something we take for granted, in Nepal, the $150 it costs to attend school for a year is beyond reach. With teams in Canada and Nepal, our comprehensive and customized sponsorships programs are designed to respond to the unique needs and challenges of each child we sponsor. As a small-scale NGO, we have virtually no overhead, and provide donors and volunteers with a clear understanding of how their contribution is helping to make education a reality for the children of Nepal.

What we need:
NCEP is at a pivotal point in our organization. With our recently acquired Charitable Status, have assembled a passionate and energetic team of volunteers, and are poised for a major expansion both in Canada and Nepal. To guide this growth and help provide a blueprint for further sustainable growth, NCEP is looking for an individual with a specialized skill-set to join our board of directors. We are looking for any one or more of the following skills:

  • Fundraising, especially with major donors
  • International education advancement
  • Charity administration
  • Social entrepreneurship experience
  • Grant writing experience
  • Connections with the Nepali community

We are looking for a reliable and experienced individual to attend 2-3 board meetings a year, and provide guidance for policy and strategic decisions critical to NCEP’s future. There is also opportunity to get involved in special project and sub-committees as desired. Like all NCEP roles, this would be a volunteer position. This enables the funds we raise to go directly to help make a difference in the lives of children in Nepal.
