Superintendent of Human Resources – Leading Change

The Superintendent of Human Resources is a key player in planning and overseeing the strategic human resource management direction of the Horizon School Division. The Superintendent of Human Resources is responsible for planning, designing, and executing HR services and programs, and the development of a strategic human capital plan that ensures human resource, industrial relations and organizational development programs are all aligned with the Board’s student-focused strategic goals and strategies. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Operations Supports/CFO, this position will manage a team of four and be a part of the senior leadership team.

Horizon School Division is a rural school division that operates 41 schools across East Central Saskatchewan. There are approximately 450 FTE teaching staff and 350 FTE non-teaching staff. The position will work from Humboldt and Lanigan. Humboldt is a great place to live and/or work. It has a strong rural culture with manufacturing and mining in the area. Great golf, minor and adult recreational sports, and cultural and arts events take place in this pretty city of 6,700. Great community spirit is evident as in 2009 Humboldt came in second in the national Hockeyville competition.

The best Superintendent of Human Resources will have a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management, several years of experience in a senior HR leadership role and a CHRP designation. The ability to lead a group through change, strong communication skills, collaborative style, lead negotiations, strategic and critical thinking, skill at balancing priorities, and other competencies expected at the senior leadership level are required.
