Payroll Administrator -- Permanent/ Full-Time

Position Summary
The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for assisting with processing payroll for hourly, bi-weekly employees accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain employee profiles in Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains

Process payroll changes including Individual pay rate changes, address changes, direct deposit information changes, TD1 value changes, etc

  • Review all input, transactions, and deposits for completeness and accuracy
  • Daily data entry of hourly time cards
  • Perform upload for job costing and payroll
  • Process bi-weekly hourly payroll as required
  • Process Garnishments, miscellaneous deductions, bereavement leave, banked time and holiday pay requests. for hourly employees
  • Calculate and process Retroactive Pay as required
  • Print, fold, sort and distribute pay advice slips bi-weekly
  • Scan timecards and maintain electronic filing of same
  • Process Advances as required
  • Respond to payroll queries from employees through leads, supervisors, managers, and HR
  • Respond to Auditors requests for information relating to hourly payroll
  • Create and maintain employee files
  • Ensure company's compliance with internal and external requirements
  • Miscellaneous other duties as required
  • Provide back up to other positions in the department for vacation coverage

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of payroll practices involving salaried and hourly compensated employees
  • Experience with in-house processed payroll is required
  • Prior experience with Great Plains Canadian Payroll is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint

Education & Experience Required

  • CPA Learning Payroll Level I and Level II are mandatory
  • Completion of or working towards PCP designation is required
  • Successful completion of a Business Administration Certification or equivalent experience
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands on payroll experience. Knowledge of Great Plains and Great Plains Canadian Payroll is an asset
