BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CfE), Research Project
URBAN HEALTH RESEARCH INITIATIVE (UHRI)

STATUS: Casual Position

JOB START DATE: As soon as possible

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

LOCATION: BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, Vancouver, BC

JOB: Works with HIV/AIDS research team under the direction of the BC-CfE Principal Investigator(s) and Research Coordinator(s), will be responsible for screening interview-administered questionnaire, maintaining participant records and other related duties. Interviews are one-on-one with participants and take place at the research site.

ORGANIZATION: The BC-CfE currently employs a team of statisticians, programmers, data managers and data entry clerks who work collaboratively on cohort-based epidemiological and clinical studies. The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS research centre including Research Laboratory, Clinical Trials, Drug Treatment Program, Epidemiology and Professional Education Programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in outreach recruitment of people who use drugs on and off street locations
  • Participates in data collection training and on-going efforts to ensure data integrity
  • Conducts screening, baseline and 6-monthly follow-up interviews using standardized questionnaires, provides information regarding protocol process, following appropriate informed consent procedures, adhering to ethical research guidelines
  • Records detailed contact and interview information
  • Reviews documents for completeness prior to submitting to supervisor
  • Facilitates brief mapping of health assets and people who use drugs’ access to services

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent require
  • Prior experience working in a healthcare setting an asset
  • Experience working with marginalized populations, including street-involved youth, people who use drugs, and homeless individuals
  • Familiarity with Metro Vancouver and services related to youth and addictions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, time-management and coordination skills
  • Computer literate in Microsoft WORD and EXCEL
  • Class 5 BC Driver’s License is an asset
