JOB SUMMARY:
This occupation helps to build theDeltaCalgaryAirportexperience for our customers through a ‘customer comes first’ attitude by providing hands-on timely quality service, exceptional value, and a superior product. Reporting to the Banquet Manager and Assistant Banquet Manager, the Banquet Captain is responsible to provide leadership with the banquet team and takes ownership of banquet events. The ability to react & provide leadership to situations that need a sense of urgency, efficient, prompt, courteous provision of food and beverage services to our guests meeting Delta standards.
We are looking for a dynamic team player with high energy, creativity, professional manner and strong work ethic to join our experienced Food & Beverage team! The successful candidate must have a good understanding of key service standards and quality service. The position is accountable for modeling and acting in accordance with the Delta’s Core Values and Code of Ethics.
SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure all checklists are complete in a timely fashion.
Ensure adequate stock levels and resources.
Lateral relations with the kitchen, sales department, front desk, and maintenance.
Provide feedback on an ongoing basis
Ensure all meeting rooms are set ups are completed in full & ready 30 minutes prior to group arrival.
Sense of organization
Manages financial transactions, as required
Uses up selling and suggestive selling approaches
Courteously takes guest food and beverage orders and promptly delivers meals
Investigates all guest inquiries in a timely fashion to provide the highest possible service
Inspects table sections and workstations to ensure proper set‑up and organization
Ensures a clean, safe, hazard‑free work environment
Ensures all equipment is in proper working order.
Lead the Banquet operation in the absence of the Banquet Manager & Assistant Manager.
“Straight from the Heart” with all interactions
Liaises with the group contact and ensures satisfaction and expectations are exceeded
SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE:
One year of service as an F&B Server in Banquet Catering.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to learn quickly.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to build relationships.
Good organizational & time management skills
Guest‑service oriented
High initiative/self‑starter
Professional in demeanour and presentation
Flexibility in availability
ProServe Certification or within 30days of employment
Food Safety Certification – Alberta Knowledge of Opera Catering an asset
