Responsibilities:
Our Edmonton office is looking for an Intermediate Structural Technologist with Building Information Modelling (REVIT) experience. The successful employee will work on a range of projects of varying complexity and construction value.
The position involves responsibility for the preparation of engineering contract drawings, schedules, details and sketches from conceptual design through tender to construction for building structures using AutoCAD, Autodesk REVIT Structure and related software products both directly, in a supporting role with Senior Technologists and in a mentoring role over junior technical staff.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prepare contract drawings, schedules, details and sketches from conceptual design, through tender to construction
Ensure CAD Standards, Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures are followed during drawing planning and production
Work to and meet project time lines
Influence, assist in developing and meet project budgets
Co-ordinate project requirements with the design team
Work with and support Senior and Junior members of the production team
Support Construction Administration personnel including field reviews and co-ordination, review and issuance of change orders, clarifications and RFI responses on an occasional or as required basis
Co-ordinate project information and work with all internal and/or external disciplines including but not limited to contractor, fabricator, architectural, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical and civil as required
Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess the following:
5 - 10 years of experience in the preparation, drafting and design of engineering drawings using appropriate standards for a variety of structures including structural steel, concrete and wood framed projects
Diploma from a recognized technical program, Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or a related structural engineering focused technology or equivalent
Member of or eligibility for membership with the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) is desirable
Possession of a solid understanding of construction protocols and processes and a proven ability to interpret contract documents (drawings and specifications)
Well experienced and knowledgeable with recent and current versions of AutoCAD and MS Office with excellent general computer skills
Recent training and/or experience with Building Information Modeling software with a strong willingness to progressively learn Autodesk REVIT Structure
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Highly organized and are able to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments
Highly motivated individual who works independently

Willingness to continue education in industry related programs
