The Director, Fund Development of the Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC) will create, implement and guide the ongoing success of a comprehensive annual giving program to establish and enhance long term relationships with a wide variety of community donors. Focused on engaging the community in annual giving, the Director, Fund Development will be directly involved in the cultivation and solicitation of individual, corporate, employee, foundation, and community group contributions to the success and ongoing financial health of Assiniboine Park as a resource open to and enjoyed by everyone in the community.
As a member of the APC senior management reporting to the Vice President of Resource Development, the Director, Fund Development will lead, direct and mentor the Fund Development team and will establish and maintain appropriate fundraising revenue forecasts, program and area budgets, and performance metrics to assess the return on investment of community fundraising activities in terms of financial gains and community engagement.
Working directly with passionate volunteers from a variety of environments including the Campaign Cabinet of the Board of Directors, the Director, Fund Development will bring a creative, solution-focused approach to executing unique and effective fundraising programs aligned with the spirit and purpose of the Assiniboine Park Conservancy thereby contributing to its ongoing financial viability.
As the operational community campaign leader, the Director, Fund Development will develop the strategy and comprehensive tactical plans to effectively integrate appropriate fundraising vehicles such as grant proposals, corporate solicitation and sponsorships, events, direct mail, tribute gifts and other Park-aligned initiatives while partnering with the Marketing & Communications department and the larger Resource Development team to ensure overall consistency in the fundraising marketing strategies and plan .
The leadership accountabilities of this role include participation in the Resource Development department strategic planning, annual evaluation and tactical planning processes along with ensuring a thorough overall understanding of APC operations and participation with executive and senior management in identifying APCs annual operating requirements and the establishment of funding priorities.
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this position one must be energetic, solution focused and a compelling communicator who is able to meet the needs of diverse audiences. A collegial approach with the ability to guide and direct the passion and innovative ideas of volunteers and staff into structured systems that achieve tangible results is critical for success. Direct experience developing community support and working with senior volunteer leadership is needed along with effective planning, plan execution, budget management, performance measurement and reporting skills. Experience in the development and management of comprehensive and effective revenue development programs that cultivate long term engagement, complimented by an undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Commitment to ethical standards in fundraising is essential and membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals is desired.
