As part of the Edmonton Housing Division, our Senior Accountant has a lead role in monitoring, interpreting and communicating operating & financial results of the Division. They take a key role in critically evaluating on-going performance, efficiency, reporting, and internal controls for both operations and finance. These responsibilities are carried out through completion of specific tasks, directing and supervising staff, and liaising directly with Operations and Corporate Head Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring accurate and timely preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information as well as the analysis of results.
- Preparing and analyzing monthly cash flow and operating income forecasts, plus assist management in developing and compiling annual business plans.
- Ensuring all transactions are recorded and reported accurately, timely and completely as well as ensuring compliance with Brookfield’s policies and procedures.
- Acting as a key liaison between Accounting, Operations, and Head Office to ensure accurate and timely reporting, communicate results, and provide insights & recommendations to help improve the Company’s efficiency and financial position.
- Providing ad-hoc reports as required
Qualifications & Requirements
- CA, CMA or CGA designation or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Possesses 3-4 years of experience in an accounting department of a medium to large corporation
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Superior attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
