This position is accountable for performing specific engineering work which may be related to applications; electrical/electronics; mechanical; manufacturing; quality; safety, health & enviornmental; or software. Works on problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in depth evaluation of various factors.
The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as an engineer for the Engineering Team in the Edmonton, AB plant.This includes designing applications and electrical schemes for Motor Control Centers and Low Voltage Switchboards. Some specific responsibilities are as follows:
- Utilizes information to analyze discrepancies and takes appropriate action to resolve them to the customer's satisfaction.
- Responds to questions requiring interpretation and provides guidance and solutions to problems involving technical product knowledge
- Coordinate with Plant Customer service so that they can provide warranty and other technical support.
- Follow the applicable product standards (CSA/UL standards)
Required Competencies:
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Certified Electrical Technologist
- Must have experience using AutoCAD, MS Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer relation skills.
- Excellent problem resolution skills.
- Proficiency with low voltage MCC/switchboard design, installation, and use.
- Knowledge of Canadian electrical codes governing the installation and use of low voltage MCC/switchboards.
- Excellent ability to interpret and create front elevation, one-line, and schematic drawings.
- Excellent ability to troubleshoot electrical control schemes
Preferred Competencies:
- Experience using Inventor or other 3D software is an asset.
- Experience with Industrial communication protocols, metering, and variable speed drive applications.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
