Data Gap Analysis
The data gap analysis is required to identify any discrepancies across legacy data sources within the Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA) team including manual data (Excel, flat files, etc.), MS Dynamics GP MS SQL Server database, Replicon and Pay@work systems data sources
Database repository design
Designing data schema and expandability of the database repository for Cognos BI reporting system based on the gap analysis performed and accommodating ALL data elements from the legacy data sources taking in account the future expansion of the reporting requirements and new data elements added into the repository
Data mapping and data load / migration from the legacy data sources into data repository
Designing the data mapping of ALL data elements from the legacy sources / systems and migration into
data repository; designing automated mechanism for data load, data integrity verification, error verifications as well manual data load for manual database updates / uploads (such as manual updates for Excel-based data).
Data maintenance configuration
Setting-up data repository storage and retention configurations
Financial Reports design and generation
Financial Reports design and generation:
1) Statement of Expense (drill-down)
2) GL Transaction Details (drill-down)
3) Salaries & Wages
4) Replicon report
Designing the reports layouts, functionality required,
data cubes, custom calculations, interface interaction
elements, etc.
Setting-up the security access to the Cognos reporting system
QA/UAT Testing
Testing all reports functionality, data storage and security access as required
Knowledge transfer
Transfer knowledge to technical and business teams
Skills/Job Requirements Technical Consultant

1. Thorough knowledge of Cognos TM1 (Implementation and report design)
2. Thorough knowledge of Cognos 10 environment
3. Thorough knowledge of Framework Manager and Cognos Connection
4. Experience with Oracle database, MS SQL Server (data schema design, data export / import,
data integrity rules on the record level, security access profiling, etc.)
5. Working knowledge of SQL Server SSIS
6. Work with the project team, gather and document requirements, develop functional specification
documents and seek agreement obtaining sign offs and coordinate user acceptance tests
7. Work with program leads, managers and staff to interpret the results and improve or further
develop metrics, processes or tools to investigate or solve issues
8. Co-ordinate and facilitate user sessions and group meetings
9. Work with Project Managers to facilitate project deliverables and liaise with technical and
business staff on the development and actualization of the requirements
10. Multi-disciplinary, understands both business and architectural concepts
