This position provides daily management of a diverse Business Banking portfolio. Manages a loan portfolio of Business Banking customers or prospects to maximize contribution to economic profit.
Impact on the Business
- Develop effective strategies in managing a Business Banking portfolio; ensure efforts support business plans while meeting Company objectives by expanding existing profitable relationships and developing new relationships with potential long-term customer or prospects. Maintain quality service for all customers and monitor relationship profitability.
- Proactively promote, sell and deliver a full range of business products and service and screen for appropriate referral or relationship management opportunities. This includes, but not limited to credit, investment services, Trust, trade finance, treasury, commercial accounts, cash management, commercial electronic services, and foreign exchange products.
- Identify opportunities from cross-sell of other Company and Group products and services as appropriate, ensuring their follow-up by sales personnel.
Customers / Stakeholders
- Maintain call program to service clients and ensure quality service for all customers and monitor relationship profitability.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Structure credit facilities to ensure optimum between customer and Company interests while remaining within bounds of prudent banking and approved Company policy and practice.
- Complete thorough and in-depth evaluations or reviews of financial and operating risk for all credits; approve/reject credits within assigned limits according to Company standards and forward recommendations exceeding the limit as appropriate.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- The position keeps higher management informed of significant matters. Depending on the business, the position may have authority of $ M and overdraft authority of $ M. Decisions beyond assigned authority are referred to higher management for approval.
- Monitor activity on facilities to ensure usage is in accordance with approved terms and condition. Ensure propriety of advances and repayments with assistance from CMB Support.
Role Context
- Office environment with car travel required to attend client meetings.
Management of Risk
- Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.
Observation of Internal Controls
- Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three years proven and progressive commercial lending/credit experience or equivalent.
- Well-developed decision-making, communications and persuasion skills.
- Sound understanding of lending and credit approval processes as well as pertinent Company policies and external regulations.
