VP OF OPERATIONS

Adecco Calgary is working with one of leading steel clients who are looking for an experienced VP of Operations to join their team. They are a great company to work for as they have a stable workflow and are a leader in their industry.

JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the daily operations of the facility including production and delivery scheduling, manpower planning, maintenance scheduling, safety and government regulation compliance. The incumbent is at all times fully aware that the proper execution of his/her work supports the ultimate organizational goal of providing excellent service to current and potential customers.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
ü Manage and lead the production process from conception to completion;
ü Provide excellent customer service;
ü Establish and maintain a leadership role in safety. Encourage safety teamwork and an ongoing high level of safety awareness;
ü Promote a clean, safe work environment and an atmosphere of teamwork and open communication to motivate, build morale and develop a positive attitude among employees.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Manages technical operations, projects, and divisional standards and practices;
Reviews operational parameter reports and activities; initiates programs for improvement as required;
Coordinate with the estimating and detailing department to anticipate and solve problems;
Coordinate the releasing of steel;
Oversee the fabrication process of steel;
Inventory control and planning in correlation with the Branch Manager;
Assist in pricing projects;
Price the placing of rebar on projects;
Oversee field supervisors;
Order field accessories;
Deal with contractual issues;
Prepares forecasts and reports as required;
Responsible for delivering maximum level of customer service by monitoring and improving system technical operations and facilities and by coordinating an on-time delivery system;
Coordinate and track all deliveries;
Manage and is accountable for the Health and Safety of Employees in accordance with corporate Health and Safety Manual, The Alberta Labour Code, OHSA and all pertinent legislation;
Manage the production department using the corporate Performance Management Process, providing coaching, leadership, guidance, staff development and regular performance reviews;
Assist with special projects, and performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Completion of Post-Secondary education combined with vocational training.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of supervisory and related operational skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical and financial knowledge of the construction industry and manufacturing related business;
Customer focus, decision quality;
Computer skills, teamwork;
Ability to work independently to accomplish objectives within deadlines;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
Problem solving, strategic thinking and judgment, planning/organizing, professionalism, attendance/punctuality, dependability;
