SALARY INFORMATION: The salary range is $58,350 to $91,173 per annum
(Information Technology, Phase 2). The starting salary will be
commensurate with education and experience.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To
support the strategic planning and information management initiatives of the
University of Saskatchewan by assisting in the design of the enterprise-wide
data warehouse architecture and implementing business intelligence software
solutions that will satisfy information requirements for planning, decision
making and performance measurement activities.

NATURE OF WORK: Reporting
to the Director of Information Strategy and Analytics, this position requires a
thorough understanding of data warehouse design, data modeling techniques,
database functionality and business intelligence methodologies. In addition,
the position requires a high capacity for data analysis, dimensional data
modeling, problem solving, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability
to leverage multiple information sources for analytical and reporting purposes.
The incumbent will be tasked with assisting in the development and
implementation of an institutional data warehouse architecture encompassing the
acquisition and integration of data from various institutional and third-party
information systems and data sources into a dimensionally modeled data
warehouse and designing and developing software solutions for provisioning data
via various business intelligence and statistical analysis methodologies. The incumbent is also responsible for
in-depth knowledge of data in institutional databases and requires the ability
to analyze and convert data into useful information. This is a high volume
position that requires the ability to work under pressure with high levels of
stress in a fast-paced environment where managing competing deadlines and
multitasking is the norm.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Designs, develops, and implements
software solutions relating to reporting, dashboards, scorecards, data
cubes, and online data delivery methodologies for consumption by senior administrators,
campus stakeholders and entities external to the University of
Saskatchewan.
Implements business intelligence suite
of tools required for data integration, analysis, manipulation, and
provisioning electronically via reports, scorecards, and dashboards.
Assists with analysis, design and
implementation of the University of Saskatchewan's data warehouse
initiative by collaborating with academic and administrative units in
conjunction with office staff to identify solutions for acquiring, integrating,
and provisioning information.
Designs, develops, and tests
extract-transform-load (ETL) processes for acquisition and integration of
data into new or existing facts and dimensions in the institutional
dimensionally modeled data warehouse.
Builds and maintains subject-specific
data marts that satisfy institutional and/or college level data
requirements.
Works
with members of ISA and/or other campus units to test and verify ETL
processes and correct any problems with data mappings or incorrect data.
Assists
in the design and development of solutions for monitoring and addressing
issues pertaining to data quality (e.g. accuracy, completeness,
reliability, etc.) to ensure that data-related problems can be identified
and resolved in a timely manner.
Assists
with the development of processes for capturing and maintaining technical
metadata from all data warehousing components.
Prepares
documentation to support the implementation of the data warehouse and
architectural deployments including (but not limited to) technical
specifications, entity relationship diagrams, source to target data
mapping, project plans, architecture designs and test plans.
Performs
data and systems analysis to determine the proper implementation and
representation of data in the data warehouse to ensure the information
needs of academic and administrative units are met.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: An undergraduate degree in computer science, information systems,
business or a related discipline. A
graduate degree would be considered an asset.
A professional certification relating to data warehousing, business
intelligence or business analytics is highly desirable.

Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively increasing
experience with business intelligence software development using SAS Enterprise
Business Intelligence or a similar toolset.
A minimum of two years' experience working with Microsoft SQL Server
databases, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), dimensional data
modeling, and database query development within a data warehouse environment is
essential. A high degree of
understanding and familiarity with business intelligence and statistical
analysis methodologies is strongly desired.
A willingness to continue to learn the products and methodologies listed
in this section is paramount.

modeling, statistical analysis, and translating business needs into technical
solutions; exceptional analytical, research, organizational and problem-solving
skills; ability to think creatively and identify innovative solutions; aptitude
for researching and understanding data (i.e. data analysis); proficiency in
project and time management; ability to work effectively as part of a team or
independently; ability to acquire new skills quickly; proven success in
completing high quality work in an accurate and timely manner.
