The Alternative Energy Technology program, within the School of Sustainable Building and Environmental Management, is seeking a full-time instructor. The successful candidate should be student-centered, energetic and committed to student success, with a capacity for engaging in program- and institutional-wide emergent change.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and present courses in both classroom and lab settings.
Organize and supervise practical assignments.
Seek regular feedback from students and staff on instructional effectiveness and relevance.
Lead course and program review.
Lead curriculum development teams.
Lead the adoption of advanced instructional platforms and technologies within the program.
Build bridges to diverse renewable and alternative energy industries.
Develop accreditation status with external bodies (i.e. ASET)
Develop, select and revise course material and curriculum on an ongoing basis to ensure relevancy to industry standards and to maximize student success.
Qualifications:
A Degree in mechanical engineering. Preference will be given to candidates with a professional designation.
Recognition for excellence in teaching at the post-secondary level.
Curriculum design experience at the post-secondary level.
Skills:
Knowledge of technologies and methodologies relating to small wind
Familiarity with relevant wind and site assessment tools
Familiarity with project management tools
Computer-aided drafting and design
Curriculum development
Familiarity with electronic teaching platforms (i.e. Moodle)
Candidates should be able to teach Excel, Visio, AutoCAD and Sketchup
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the above skills and experience but who also have experience implementing Outcome Based Educational theory in the classroom.
