Position Summary:
Ø Creating, maintaining, and refreshing Oracle database instances for development, test and production environments.
Ø Monitoring of these databases promptly and efficiently addressing performance or maintenance issues as they occur.
Ø Working with business application teams to determine needs, set priorities, create project plans and determine schedules for software implementations, upgrades and integrations, including implementing corporate standards for the schema and security as applicable to each system.
Ø Providing expert assistance in setting up instances, table spaces, tables, indexes, views, etc.
Ø Working with application developers to create and enforce development standards/procedures to guarantee acceptable database performance levels.
Ø Application performance tuning.
Ø Installing, upgrading and maintaining database software products/versions including security patches.
Ø Assisting developers with the most efficient way to extract the correct data for their applications and reports.
Ø Enhancing and maintaining database recovery strategies for on-site and off-site recoverability through various technology methods.
Ø Providing technical input to improve these strategies to rapidly recover any loss of data due to system or user errors.
Ø Backing up, restoring, recovering and refreshing production, test, development, quality assurance and other environments.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Experience:
Ø Minimum 3- 5 years experience in Oracle Database Administration in a medium to large-sized organization

Ø In-depth, senior level experience with Oracle versions 9i and 10g.

Ø Experience with the building, configuring, monitoring, and implementation of Oracle RAC technology.
Ø Excellent communication and customer relationship skills and the ability to easily build solid relationships across a variety of levels in the organization.
Ø Strong customer service commitment.
Ø Strong organization, planning, project management, multi-tasking and execution skills.
Ø The ability to work independently, and to manage and quickly adapt to changing requirements, special assignments and workload prioritization
Ø Experience in Database creation and configuration in a Unix environment.
Ø Experience with Oracle 10g and Oracle 11g databases
Ø Experience with Backup and recovery; database performance, monitoring and tuning
Ø Extensive knowledge of SQL, SQL Plus and/or PL/SQL
Ø Knowledge of Information Management and Data Management principles, practices and processes; In-depth knowledge of data modeling and database design
Ø Ability to deal with clients in a courteous and professional manner, and communicate well verbally and in writing
