Position Summary
The Casualty E&O Division of Chartis offer a variety of General/Products Liability, Professional Liability, Healthcare Liability and Umbrella coverages to suit the needs of most classes of business. This division also offers many specialty monoline coverages such as Sexual Misconduct Liability, Employment Practices Liability and Product Recall.
We currently have an opportunity available for an Underwriting Technician. This role in addition to handling the administrative duties works with the underwriters to ensure that underwriting is conducted within the standards and timeframes, including analyzing the policy submissions in detail to ensure policy issuance information is accurate and complete, and conducting quality control checks to ensure adherence to division specific guidelines and procedures.

Organizational Structure
This position in located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and reports to the Assistant Vice President, Casualty & E&O.

Position Requirements

Performance Objectives

• Field broker inquiries
• Prepare and set up loss runs for renewals and brokers
• Issue policies
• Coding new and renewal business
• Prepare premiums summaries and P&L reports
• Set-up and maintenance of division underwriting files to URD standards
• Learn Chartis systems relevant to Casualty division

Ideal Candidate Will Have/Be

• Bilingual an asset
• Minimum 3 years insurance experience – Casualty preferred
• College/University degree an asset
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
• Strong attention to Detail
• Good problem solving ability
• Flexibility and initiative
• Ability to handle/prioritize large workload
• Ability to work independently to meet deadlines, as well as in a team oriented approach to accomplish branch results
• Strong knowledge of systems and PC applications (Windows, Outlook, MSWord, Excel and database administration)
