Position Overview
The Canexus plant in North Vancouver, British Columbia is a well-established Chlor-Alkali production facility with over 50 years of successful operating history which in 2009-2010, went into a major technology upgrade that brought this facility to a state of the art operation. Canexus North Vancouver is currently seeking:
Logistics Coordinator
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for monitoring and expediting the flow of railcar equipment into Canexus’ plants to ensure sufficient volumes of empty cars to maintain planned production levels, and to expedite loaded and empty railcars to customer locations to meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities
Understand rail operations, terminology, practices, and issues to effectively provide railcar tracing and expediting services.
Understand service issues and be able to analyze and effect improvement in rail services.
Use KPI information to continuously improve our service levels to customers and identify opportunities to work with railways to reduce transit times.
Understand, improve and communicate our Responsible Care culture in daily activity.
Maintain relationships with customer and carrier contacts to facilitate continual understanding of customer business needs and early identification of potential changes in requirements.
Identify and reduce excessive railcar detention at customers with the Customer Service Representatives, and with the Sales Account
Manager’s assistance if required.
Accountable for railcar tracing and expediting.
Provide empty car runout reports and analysis.
Develop rail service analyses by rail corridor.
Provide backup for Freight Master Data maintenance.
Accountable with Customer Service Group and Plant Shipping Coordinators for on time arrival of our products at customers.
Requirements
University degree in Commerce, Economics or Engineering would be considered an asset.
At least 3 years experience in the transportation field. A working knowledge of railway transportation would be an asset. Prior experience in railway tracing would be a definite asset.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments, aggressive targets and critical deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing in a proactive manner.
Prior experience with database management systems and Excel would be an asset.
Self-motivated; ability and self-discipline to work in a fast paced environment.
Complete workloads in priority without constant supervision.
