Position Overview
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, Facilities Services, the Refrigeration Technician is responsible for performing the scheduled preventive maintenance and general maintenance on the mechanical systems, HVAC systems and life safety equipment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, electrical schematics, pneumatic and electronic control systems, pipe fitting, welding and brazing and mechanical layouts.
- Provide a weekly summary to the Facilities Coordinator.
- Maintain project Files
- Keep updated records on HVAC supplies and suppliers.
- Carry out any other related tasks requested by the immediate supervisor or required as part of the job.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Alert and perceptive and able to resolve problems/emergencies on service calls.
- Ensure the completion of scheduled corrective and preventative maintenance service to building systems as assigned.
- Compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety legislation, guidelines, standards, policies, procedures and practices and housekeeping and quality standards are maintained.
- Good knowledge of complex fire alarm, environmental, mechanical systems for large office buildings
- Experience with 'Green' practices and energy conservation practices and programs
- Ability to work different shifts if required
Qualifications and Experience
- 3 to 5 years experience in large scale building operations and maintenance is preferred.
- Knowledge of various types of chillers and cooling systems.
- Solid communication skills in French or English.
- Experience reading AutoCAD, blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of mechanical system, water supply network and waste and drainage system.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid refrigeration license.
- G2 gas license preferable
