Our client is looking for a Web Accessibility Developer for W3C compliance.

Job Description

As the Web Accessibility Developer, you will be responsible for:

· Consult with project teams within the IT Project Life Cycle to ensure compliance with Enterprise IT Accessibility Standards, guidelines and best practices.

· Conduct accessibility compliance testing using various methodologies including automated testing tools, manual tests, code reviews and assistive technology usage.

· Maintain accessibility reports as they relate to projects.

· Implement, review and recommend changes to the current accessibility assessment processes, methodology, tools and criteria.

· Assist with the development and deployment of training material to support digital accessibility

· Research and keep abreast of industry accessibility standards, guidelines, best practices and tools for developing accessible applications.

· Develop and maintain enterprise IT accessibility standards, guidelines and best practices

· Provides direction, training, expertise and feedback to build accessibility capacity within various technical groups

· Continually enhances skills, and builds knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems

Job Requirements

It is preferred the candidate has demonstrated capability in the following areas:

· Programming and web development experience (HTML, CSS, JQuery).

· Strong knowledge of W3C coding standards, specifically the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.

· Ability to analyze and debug code and provide technical solutions for web developers with respect to accessibility

· Thorough knowledge of accessibility testing techniques using automated and manual testing procedures.

· Strong understanding of usability and user interface design principles.

· Expert knowledge of assistive technology including screen readers, print magnification software and alternative input systems.

· Awareness of disability related issues with respect to accessing information and communication and websites.

· Mobile application development experience is desirable.
