Academic General Internist with Interest in Obstetric Medicine
The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine in partnership with Alberta Health Services, is inviting applications for a General Internist with an interest and expertise in Obstetric Medicine. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty is internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.
The Royal Alexandra Hospital is one of Edmonton’s largest and longest serving hospitals, offering general and specialized medical and surgical health services, and featuring one of Canada’s busiest Emergency departments. Located in the heart of Edmonton’s city centre, the Royal Alexandra Hospital serves a diverse community stretching from downtown Edmonton to western and northern Canada. The hospital operates 746 beds (320 in medicine), cares for almost half a million patients annually, and employees over 4,800 full-time and part-time staff.
The successful applicant will cover clinical service commitment for Obstetric Medicine and General Internal Medicine at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Clinical Services include but are not limited to: inpatient Obstetric Medicine consult service, outpatient Obstetric Medicine clinics, inpatient internal medicine clinical teaching units and inpatient and emergency consultations.
The successful applicant should also fulfill the academic mission of Obstetric Medicine and General Internal Medicine through medical education, research and administration. The job description as it pertains to these areas may be individualized.

Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent with completed training in General Internal Medicine and must be eligible for licensure within the Province of Alberta. They must have obtained the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and, FRCPC (Internal Medicine) required.
