Under general direction, the HR Coordinator works independently to provide a range of HR services for the Central Administration Human Resources Services Office and for associated client departments in the areas of recruitment, job design and evaluation, salary administration, benefits administration, special projects and office administration.. Key responsibilities include providing advice and information to managers and staff regarding employment policies and collective agreement provisions; overseeing recruitment activities for USW, PM and Confidential positions; assisting with the development and implementation of proactive recruitment strategies; responding to inquiries regarding the University’s online recruitment system; acting as a first point of contact on various HR issues; sharing responsibility for managing in person inquiries; provides administrative support to Generalists, Senior HR Consultant and to the Director as required; and maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and of University policies and procedures.
Qualifications

(MINIMUM)
Education: University degree in a relevant discipline, plus completion of related professional development courses in pursuit of CHRP designation, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Two to three years’ related human resources experience, preferably with experience in the areas of: recruitment, equity and diversity, benefits administration, collective agreement interpretation, training and development. Knowledge of and experience using an on-line recruitment system and experience in sourcing candidates essential, preferably experience with using social media recruitment tools. Experience screening resumes and the principles of behavioral based interviewing,
Skills: Keyboarding skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Experience with Visio an asset. Experience with HRIS an asset.
Other: Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, exercise good judgement and constantly exhibit tact and diplomacy, Attention to detail. Demonstrated problem solving skills.
