The Carseland Nitrogen Operation is located about 50 Km. east of Calgary and employs approximately 170 people. It is registered with ABSA as a First Class Plant and allows Power Engineers exposure to multiple processes such as steam/gas reforming, amine scrubbing for Carbon Dioxide removal, high pressure compression and catalytic conversion in the production of Anhydrous Ammonia. CO2 and NH3 are used in a high pressure process to produce solid product urea which can be used to produce timed release coated urea (ESN).
Agrium's Carseland Nitrogen Operation is also responsible for the operation of Trans-Canada Energy's cogeneration facility which produces power and high pressure steam. Located 25 minutes southeast of Calgary, this location provides the amenities of a major city while being close to mountain parks and recreational areas.
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Process Operators at Carseland Nitrogen Operations are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production in an Ammonia and Urea manufacturing facility.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Monitoring/operating equipment and associated systems within standard operating conditions and limits.
Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply
Qualifications of the position include:
High School diploma
A 3 rd Class Steam ticket (ABSA) is required and a 2 nd Class ticket is considered an asset
Previous industrial experience is beneficial
Must be motivated and able to work in a team environment, exhibit strong decision making and problem solving skills, and have sound written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
