Lead Instructor - Esthetics
JOB PURPOSE
Provides quality delivery of assigned courses using the appropriate method, including teaching tutoring and lecturing in compliance with Everest’s company policies, procedures and regulatory and legal requirements. Responsible for general administration management of an academic program within a diploma/certificate program by planning, overseeing and evaluating activities of students, community programs (practicum, associations, community programs) and faculty in the assigned academic program. Also responsible for administration of an assigned course of study within a diploma/certificate program by planning, overseeing and evaluating activities of students in assigned academic program. Conducts all operations in compliance with Everest College policy and procedures; and meets accreditation, regulatory and legal requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIMARY DUTIES
INSTRUCTION
Plan, prepare and deliver quality classroom instruction in lecture and or practical format based on the approved curricula.
Primary Duties:
- Select and utilize a variety of approved course materials and teaching methods - using lectures, demonstrations, discussion groups, and seminars - to insure the needs of the individual students are met in the program.
- Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies.
- Deliver communication on school policy, and academics based on management direction
- Assist in planning and implementing student activities, including Student Orientation, Field trips, etc.
- Manage classroom teaching conditions and environment through active instructor presence in order to promote positive classroom discipline and control, timely class meetings and appropriate use of furniture and equipment
- Provides students academic support and advice, refers them for additional assistance as required - tutor if necessary, and provides other assistance as needed.
- Motivate students by demonstrating sensitivity for their concerns, actively involving them in classroom discussions and or activities
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, disability, and ethic backgrounds of students
- Develop a positive classroom learning environment to ensure high rates of student success.
- Provide regularly scheduled academic advising to students within the program
LEAD ADMINISTRATION
Responsible for working in conjunction with the Program Chair and/or the Campus Director of Education to support the overall quality of teaching and learning including curriculum and students within their assigned discipline. Partner with the Employment / Career Specialist networking in the community for placement positions.
Primary Duties:
- Assist with departmental curricula review, program development and textbook review
- Actively participate in the college’s student retention management program and achieve campus quarterly and annual retention targets.
- Assist with the recruiting, screening, supervising, training, developing, observing, mentoring, coaching, and evaluate faculty as needed to maintain the overall quality and integrity of teaching and learning within the assigned discipline
- Provide input for the quarterly Master Schedule including identifying course offerings and scheduling students for appropriate classes as needed to maintain an effective and efficient course schedule that keeps student on track for graduation and falls within budgeting and compliance guidelines.
- Assist the Director of Education with:
student concerns or attendance and academic violations
the review of programmatic grades and academic advising
Administration
Primary Duties:
- Achieve assigned retention rate in accordance with the campus, accreditation and company guidelines by maintaining accurate attendance records daily and communicating attendance concerns to the education director.
- Timely completion of all official College records Maintain established office hours and is otherwise available to assist students outside of the scheduled classroom time
- Participate in curriculum review, design and development activities including actively working with Program Chair and the other campus faculty and lead Instructors as needed to maintain the overall quality and integrity of the curriculum.
- Implement new or revised curriculum on campus including text book selection and selection of equipment and supplies.
- Support program-level compliance with all internal academic policies and procedures and all applicable accrediting standards, provincial requirements and all other applicable external rules and regulations.
- Recruit participants and actively participate in program advisory committees and other activities designed to solicit input into curriculum and build relationships with the employers and potential employers or Everest graduates.
- Implement and manage company policies and procedures such as attendance, grade reports, midterm reports, student advising forms and all other assigned educational materials on a timely basis
- Participate in faculty/staff meetings, committee meetings, professional development workshops, graduation ceremonies and other school functions as requested
- Support active inter-departmental cooperation with other departments such as Admissions, Financial Aid and Placement.
- Maintain current knowledge of corporate operations, policies and procedures as well as with Everest training curriculum within the faculty of specialization
- Maintain classroom, making certain that all areas are in working condition. Order necessary class supplies as required.
Performs all duties inherent in an Instructor / Professional_Technical role.
May be assigned other duties and special projects as required.
Qualifications
Educational requirements
Esthetics Diploma from an accredited educational institution recognized by Everest
- Education and experience must meet the requirements of the Private Career Colleges Act.
Professional accreditation/certification
Knowledge of adult learning principles is essential for every program.
Technical skills/software knowledge
Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Office
Business expertise
Minimum of three years practical work experience
