This position is based on-site at a project north of Fort McMurray, Alberta. The work will be on a rotational basis, with free on-site living accommodations and food provided. Free transportation to/from site will also be provided, although travel-time is not reimbursable. The successful candidate will be entitled to a monthly travel allowance and a project specific bonus, on top of regular and overtime pay.
Responsibilities/Duties
The Earthworks QA/QC Survey Coordinator will be responsible for:

Reviewing earthworks quantities by performing volumetric calculations using survey data from multiple sources. This includes determining whether or not the provided survey data is acceptable, and if required, providing surveyors with field directions on the collection of topographic data.

Working with the Contracts Group to ensure that materials and volumes are classified under the correct pay item within the earthworks contract.
·
Ensuring that the earthworks contractor is using the correct design information at all times. Also ensuring that their methods of data collection and calculation are reasonable and accurate.
·
Providing the Home Office with survey data that has been validated and thoroughly reviewed. This will include data requests from Engineering, Environmental, Regulatory and Planning groups.
·
Organizing all received survey and engineering design data in a manner that is scalable, efficient, and easy for multiple users to access.

Prioritizing and organizing survey field work for multiple crews. This will include Topographic surveys for
volumetrics
, ‘As-Built’ surveys, and QA surveys for Engineering and Geotechnical purposes.

Supervising a supporting office staff of 4-5 personnel by setting their priorities and providing technical guidance and assistance.
Qualifications
·
Effective written and verbal communications skills. Capable of maintaining a professional decorum while working in close quarters with contractors and the client.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
·
Familiarity with Trimble survey equipment and software.
·
Experience in performing volume calculations with CAD software; namely Trimble TerraModel and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
·
Proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel
·
Previous experience in the oil sands, dyke construction or other large-scale projects is a definite asset. AMEC - 11 months ago
