Logistics Coordinator
Carmanah - Victoria, BC

Carmanah ~ Reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain, the core responsibility of this position is to analyze and execute overall material requirements and schedules with internal customers based on construction, engineering and maintenance schedules. This position is also responsible for developing purchasing plans to meet these requirements and identifying and determining the best sources for materials and services.

Working with company departments to determine supply needs and time-lines

Monitoring and managing material deliveries to anticipate and prevent shortages

Managing the supplier selection process and generate supplier performance reports

Preparing requests for bids which provide accurate and detailed information to potential vendors

Verifying purchase requisitions; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives

Preparing purchase orders based on approved material requisitions, verifying specifications and prices; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items

Seeking price quotes from multiple vendors and negotiating to secure the lowest price available on goods of comparable quality

Developing and awarding purchase orders or contracts based on agreed to terms and conditions

Obtaining required items by forwarding purchase orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders

Monitoring orders in progress to ensure items are delivered according to the time-line and specifications

Verifying items have been correctly received and resolving shipments in error with suppliers

Providing purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends

Qualifications:
Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years purchasing experience within a materials management environment

Post-Secondary Education in Supply Chain Management or Business is preferred

Established progress towards certification or designation within PMAC (Purchasing Management Association of Canada) is preferred

Strong oral and written communications skills

Proven negotiation skills

The ability to work under time constraints and in demanding situations

The ability to work independently as well as on a team

Working knowledge of the Microsoft Word, Excel and QuickBooks

Construction, electrical and plumbing knowledge preferred
